OCFD's First
Therapy Dog
The Ocean City Fire Department has welcomed
K-9 Max, who is now 3 years old. Max is Labrador Retriever, who has special skills and training to help first-responders and members of the Ocean City Community after traumatic events.
Your help is needed today to
help fund the Therapy Dog Program and
mental health programs for members of our
public safety community.
Research by UCLA Health confirmed that interaction with therapy dogs provides both mental and physical health benefits including:
- The release of hormones that play a part in elevating moods
- Lower anxiety and reduced loneliness
- Mental stimulation
- Lower blood pressure and improved cardiovascular health
- Slower breathing
